Tarek Var

To many of the disposed Engu, Tarek Var’s story would be painfully familiar. A former garosa on a droba hunting ship, he lost everything to the Delgon invasion – his village burnt to ashes, clan slaughtered, longship sunk along with his kapa. With nothing left to fight for and Tonueil already in flames, Tarek was forced to escape into the northern empire with a caravan of others fleeing the slaughter.

It was there, in a shanty camp thrown together by the refugees, that Tarek met Rashar Oren, the one-eyed Orel Lord and mercenary commander. The two had an almost instant rapport and were able to strike a deal – in exchange for relocating the civilians with them to Orel, Tarek and the other engu warriors at the camp would enter Rashar’s service. Since that time, Tarek has marked himself out as Rashar’s confidant, friend, and bodyguard, surviving many grievous wounds that would have slain less stubborn fubarnii whilst guarding his charge.

Following the chaos after the near killing of Danakan in Teral, it was Terak who dragged Rashar to safety after the lord was thrown from his saddle and his faithful grakukan was captured. Not yet willing to abandon the fight, the pair have moved much of their forces and Teral rebel allies out of the city proper, harrassing the Delgon supply lines and foragers in the surrounding wilderness, giving Terak every opportunity to vent his fury on the hated invaders as Rashar plans their next move.
